Eco Park Kolkata

Kolkata is surrounded by lots of greeneries. People are spending their maximum time at parks and open areas during winter. They can enjoy and go for a picnic also at that time. Kolkata Eco Park is the most popular park. It becomes the top visiting place in Kolkata.

It is situated in New Town, Rajarhat, and founded by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of Kolkata in 2011. The total area of this park is 480 acres and surrounded by a water body of 104 acres area and an island is also there within the water body where you can enjoy some water sports activity, sound light and water show in the time of evening.

Kolkata Eco Park is an urban park and this is the biggest park in India as well.

This park is divided into segments. One park is for amazing and exciting water rides, and the other part is for sharing some historic moments. There is another segment that is popular for Japanese Restaurant and gardens.

Our Experience in Kolkata Eco Park

We went to Eco Park in summer keeping in mind it would be crowd-free. It was shocking to see the crowds after reaching the place. In summer also the park is full of crowds. After entering the park we went to visit the dummy Eiffel Tower which is at the end of Gate No.1. We had to buy a ticket of Rs.20/- per person to enter the place. We clicked some photographs from the top of the tower.

PYRAMID IN KOLKATA ECO PARK

The great pyramid of Khufu located in Egypt is the oldest and sole remnant of the seven wonders of the ancient world. It is believed that the pyramid was Khufu’s pyramid was built mainly of limestone (with large rate granite, blocks, used in some interior chambers) and was built as a tomb of the fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu. It contains over 20 lac blocks ranging in weight from 2.5 tones to 15 tones and builds on a square base with a side measuring about 230 meters covering 30 acres. This pyramid has an angle of 52 degrees at the top. The pyramid’s original height was 146.5 meters. The replica consists of 3 nos pyramids along with sphinx made of fiber-reinforced polymer with structural steel members inside.

GREAT WALL OF CHINA

The Great Wall of China generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe, is a series of fortification made of wood, stone, brick, tamped earth, and other materials. As early as the 7th century BC several walls were being built, these, later joined together and made bigger and stronger, are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall. Especially famous is the wall built 220-206 BC by Qin Shi Huang, the Emperor of China. The length of the China Wall is 21,196 KM.

COLOSSEUM

The Colosseum is in the center of the city of Rome in Italy, which is known as the Flavian Amphitheatre. Colosseum is the largest amphitheater ever built of concrete and stone. The Colosseum is established in the east of the Roman forum. The construction was completed in AD 80 and it was started in AD 72. Further modifications were made at the time of the region of Domitian. The Colosseum could hold 0,000 to 80,000 spectators. It was used for public spectators such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on mythology and gladiatorial contests. Still partially ruined because of damage caused by earthquakes and stone-robbers, the Colosseum is still an iconic symbol of imperial Rome.

TAJ MAHAL

The Taj Mahal situated on the southern bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It is a white marble mausoleum. It was dedicated in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife of three, Mumtaz Mahal. The Tai Mahal is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and is widely recognized as “the jewel of Muslim art”. it is a symbol of India’s rich history and one of the world’s most celebrated structures.

EASTER ISLAND STATUE

Easter Island is at the southernmost point of the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania. It is a Chilean island in the Southern Pacific Ocean. Easter Island called moai is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues. It was created by the early Rapa Nui people. UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site in 1995 which is named Rapa Nui National Park. Polynesian people created a thriving and industrious culture as evidenced by the island’s numerous enormous stone moai and other artifacts and most likely settled on Easter Island sometime between 700 and 1100 BC. This is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world.

PETRA JORDAN

Petra Jordan is famous for its water conduit system and its rock-cut architecture. It is the archaeological and historical city in the southern Jordanian governorate of Ma’an. Another name of Petra Jordan is Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. Established possibly as early as 312 BC as the capital city of Nabataeans, it is a symbol of Jordan.

CHRIST THE REDEEMER

Christ the Redeemer Statue of Jesus Christ situated in Rio De Janeiro, in Brazil. It was built by the Brazilian engineer Heitor Da Silva Costa and created by French sculptor Paul Landowski, in collaboration with the French engineer Albert Caquot. The face was created by Romanian artist Gheorghe Leonida. The statue is 30 meters tall,  exclusive pedestal height of 8 meters, and its arms stretch 28 meters wide. The statue weighs 635 M.T and is located at the peak of the 70 meters. The city of Rio has been overlooked by Corcovado Mountain in the Tijuca forest national park. The statue has also become a cultural icon of both Rio De Janeiro and Brazil which is a symbol of Christianity across the World.  It was constructed between 1900 and 1931 and is made of soapstone, reinforced concrete.

Rides chart and Price

We went for boating. The boating list and prices are as below:

• A fine will be issued if the time exceeds a paddleboat.
• Age 10 onward will not be allowed on a paddleboat.
• 60/- will be charged if a life jacket is wet willingly.
• Please keep the paddle boat 10 meters away from the fountain
• The ticket is a must from 3 years onward.
• The speed boat will not sail on until it is filled with a minimum of 10 passengers.
• 15 passengers can board on the shared boat and 20 on the open larger boat
• Please follow the queue after buying the ticket.

Japanese Forest

We went to the Japanese Forest as well. It was full of trees and plants. We had our lunch there. The food was nice. The history behind this forest is: Japan has World’s most well conserved and beautiful forests. They have adapted to a system of managed and sustainable forestry. This allows them to respect the use of natural resources. This forest is blessed with monasteries Pagodas.

The Legend is that during the development of New Town years ago, a female worker came across a rock piece that looked like the sculpture of Lord Buddha. She placed it under a tree and worshiped it daily. Soon she was blessed with a son. This park is developed around the same Buddha sculpture.

MIST GARDEN

Another segment is MIST GARDEN. This is an amazing garden. All the time a feeling of water flows in the air. It occurs due to the showers which blow the water all the time. It creates a moist atmosphere in nature. We have spent time in this garden. We can find a few statues of elephants, giraffe, bear, and deer, etc.

N:B: Children 3 years and above full ticket required

Another attraction is DUO CYCLING. Anyone goes to Eco Park, but do not try this cycling, it is not expected. You can take the cycle on rent and roam around the park. The charges & terms and conditions for renting this cycle are:

• Ticket Rs.150/- for 30 mins with a refundable deposit of Rs.350/- Total Rs.500/-
• Late fine over 10 mins Rs.150/- for next 30 mins to be deducted from the deposit
• DUO CYCLE is for two (2) persons only. Children can ride only in the back seat.
• All types of loose clothing like DUPPATA should be tied before riding DUO CYCLE
• Do not drive on the grass, over-speed or brake hard
• Any damage caused to DUO CYCLE due to reckless driving is chargeable
• Check Cycle before the ride if needed to replace it. No claims will be entertained later
• No refund is allowed except any technical problem in DUO CYCLE

How to Reach Kolkata Eco Park?

From Airport – You can take ola, uber or local taxi to Eco Park Kolkata at weekend take 30 min and at the weekend it will take 15 min.

Sealdah Railway Station– You can take a local Bus or train to Ultadanga / Bidhannagar Railway station and from there you can take another bus to Chinar Park or Haldiram. Then you have to take another Bus to Eco Park. It will take 1:30 -2hrs by bus . or you can take Ola, Uber, local taxi.

Reach to Airport Gate No 1 bus stop. From there you will have lot of options to go to Ecopark Kolkata
